2024 DUES WORKSHEET

There are four categories of membership to the MBA-NJ: Regular, Associated, Limited and Individual. Related businesses of limited members include attorneys, environmental consultants, appraisal companies, and credit reporting agencies.   2. MORTGAGE BANKING SURCHARGE

    Check the box below if your company’s principal business or an important part thereof, within the State of New Jersey, consists of all of the following: originating, financing, closing and selling of first mortgage loans on real estate (regardless of whether you maintain an office, principal or otherwise, within New Jersey).

  3. SERVICING OR ORIGINATION SURCHARGES

    All regular and associate members shall have a charge added which shall be equal to the greatest amount due under either the Servicing Formula OR the Origination Formula.

    1. Servicing Formula

      The following surcharge is added for aggregate servicing of loans for others:

    2. Origination Formula

      The following surcharge is added for loans originated in New Jersey for sale to others during the prior year:

Committees

No individual should select more than two MBA-NJ Committees. In selecting your appointments for the various committees, you should keep in mind that the majority of committees meet on a monthly basis either in person or by conference call and an in person committee meeting can generally keep members out of the office for several hours. Committee members must participate in committee projects and programs to remain an active committee member. This may require additional time out of the office or work to be done during office hours. Any committee member who fails to attend at least one of any three consecutive committee meetings will be dropped from the committee.

Dues payments may be tax deductible as ordinary and necessary business expenses subject to restrictions imposed as a result of lobbying activities. The portion of current year’s dues allocable to lobbying is estimated at 30%.
